#1- How can I get paid for playing video games?
#2- How can I do beta testing and get paid for it, and is it worth it?
Well there are several different areas of the gaming industry you wan work in. Whether it be testing, graphic art, programming, and many other fields. Most of the time if a gaming company needs a beta tester, they will announce it on their website or soemthing. In order to get that job you’ll need to live close to the company.
i I would like to beta test new games, electronics, mp3 players, cameras stuff like that in my free time but dont know how. i am curently in 9th grade and love electronics. HOW CAN I DO THIS?
For video games, you might want to check the websites of developer companies that makes the game you are interested in, and see if you meet the criteria. I’ve beta tested for Novalogic (which got me a once in a lifetime participation in E3), and it was awesome.
For electronics, this might be a good head start:

I’ve been with them for many years, and recent testing was for computer RAM, which all participants got a 1GB Flash Drive and were entered to win the RAM that was being tested. Really fun.
While it may not have been much, I hope I gave you a head start.
Thank you for 10,000 views (4/26/10) =)
Parts in the video:

is there a place on the internet to find out more information about beta testing games, if that’s even the right term ><
yes there are jobs for that to see if they are fun or not but i dont know were
1. what’s the process for hiring beta testers? like, how do you hire one? typically, how much would it cost to hire one?
2. is there a such thing as a bad beta tester and a good one? I’m having a hard time picturing how someone can be bad at it.
3. how many beta testers do gaming companies usually hire to work on a single game?
4. how long does the beta testing period last, usually?
5. What types of beta testers are hired?
6. seems i’m really ignorant about this whole thing. where can I learn more?
1. what’s the process for hiring beta testers? like, how do you hire one? typically, how much would it cost to hire one?
- Try putting an ad out or something, Or letting some of your friends try.
2. is there a such thing as a bad beta tester and a good one? I’m having a hard time picturing how someone can be bad at it.
- Don’t think so.
3. how many beta testers do gaming companies usually hire to work on a single game?
- Usually around 10, it depends on the sort of game you are creating
4. how long does the beta testing period last, usually?
- You should get them to send in a report on a regular basis.
5. What types of beta testers are hired?
- Some people hire skilled one’s that cost more, some people hire the cheapest one’s but they still get the job done.
Obviously the development and beta testing and all that, but what about the rest of it? Can someone give me a detailed accound of how a game is made?
first there is the idea stage. thats when someone has the idea for the basis of a game. then you plot an outline of the story or main components of the game usually with a storyboard or something similar, depending on the genre. then you find or create an engine to run the game. think of the engine as the backbone of the whole game. when you want it ot pull textures or read keystrokes etc., thats what you are pulling from… everything else is subscripts etc to connect it together. you have to also have someone map out textures, make models/concepts etc for the graphics in the game unless its fully text-base. then you go into putting it together from start to finish, seeing where the game stays upbeat and where it falls under and you change accordingly. this is also where you can beta test to find anything buggy. then you compile and run!
if you want a more indepth way of making a game then go to google or something similar and look up game development process. because thats all it is.
The wildly popular Flash series by Mark Haynes, “Super Mario Bros. Z” appealed greatly to me much more for just than the epic fight sequences but the vast complexity of the plot and how well he merged two separate videogame franchises (their locations, characters and storylines) with the interesting twist of “Dragonball Z”.
A few months ago I had approached Mr. Haynes and proposed a remake of the series, in 3-D, in the distant future with “I.I.A.S., Ltd.” Much to my surprise, he was quite adamant of the idea as well as learning to animate in 3-D as well. I gave him my initial visions of the project, most of it concentrating on a new soundtrack, but I never could really show him what I had in mind with the new music…until now.
It has come to my attention that the administrator of the SMBZ fan site, Nintendodsg, recorded several of the episodes in Windows Media Format and put them up for download. This would allow me to use Windows Movie Maker to make “Beta Tests” of the new music with the episodes.
At last, I could show him exactly what I had envisioned with the new music for the remake. (at least for Episodes 1,2,3 and 6 anyway)
With his permission, I now release Part 2 of the “BT” version of Super Mario Bros. Z Episode 6 for your entertainment and your consideration. After much consideration, the original audio was muted. I tried to keep it in but it constantly interfered with the new music and, thus, defeated the purpose of making this Beta Test in the first place.
Comments and thoughts are always welcome and constructive criticism is preferred. Enjoy!
